Based on the Gospell of St. Mathew, Godspell Junior is a celebration of the life and teachings of Christ, and can be performed virtually any where with the simplest of sets, costumes, lights and music.
The original Godspell was the first major musical theatre offering from 3-time
Grammy and Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin,
Children Of Eden); and
it took the world by storm and has now been adapted as Godspell
JR.. Led by the international hit, "Day By

A group of
people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety
storytelling techniques, and hefty dose of comic timing. An eclectic
blend of songs ranging in style from pop to vaudeville is employed as

Casting Notes: GODSPELL JR. is a true ensemble show with many featured roles and only two specific characters -- Jesus and Judas/John the Baptist. When you begin to cast this show, we encourage you to find as many interesting, different types of students as you can and invite them all to audition. Ideally, your cast will form a microcosm of your school and community. Take time at your auditions to make sure that everyone you are considering understands the nature of being in an ensemble production.Your casting will be successful if all the students recognize that the weight of the show falls on everyone's shoulders, and they are all going to have their moment to shine.
